Re: Regional Newspapers
NAYPIYADAW, Yesterday, the Orient was rocked by a complete diplomatic meltdown and a gross misuse of military power. The catalyst that set this escapade into motion was Kyongdong's transition to Communism. The Communist Party seized power in Kyongdong the day before yesterday in the Parlaimentary election and the Nationalists were ousted from power. Nationalist loyalists then fled to the island of Chô where the Communist Regime of Kyongdong sought them out. This morning, however, Karlom-Terevanyian ships began enforcing a non-official neutral zone around Chô. Several nations became involved in the naval standoff as Karlom-Terevanyia and her allies sought to one-up the Communists. It was only until Supreme Court Justice Richard Godard, a native of Westphalia, Karlom-Terevanyia, declared the actions of the aggressors unconstitutional that diplomatic channels were opened. Here in Naypyidaw, Godard was hailed as a hero whereas he has received some harsh criticism from newspapers in his homeland, some right-wing publishers even going as far as to call him a traitor. The Confrence of Naypiyadaw accomplished very little in reality, but the message is clear. Rogue militarism will not be tolerated. Although there are clear concerns about Kyongdong's future as to whether they will seek to spread their ideology as many communist nations of the past have done, only time will truly tell if their transition to Communism will be as damaging to the region as many conservative Orientals fear.
